Without Tumblr reblogs, I'm realizing how little of my own content I've been creating lately. I've been writing fic, sure, but no meta and no chatty little posts like I used to do before a really bad summer in one of my fandoms.

I'm not sure if that's going to change, but I wanted to pipe up and say: I'm still here. With the number of people creating a DW account "just in case," I see many journals that have a few old posts and nothing more, and I don't know if they plan to stick around.

I'm reading and commenting, but if you don't follow the same people I follow, you might not know that. But I'm here!

I’m with you. Even if I hadn’t been on Tumblr for like 4 years before this exodus, I’m still having a hard time adjusting. I know I was very active on Livejournal around 2008 and I can barely remember what it was like navigating the dark ages.

Honestly a lot of old journals are likely still around from the LJ exodus before everyone moved to Tumblr. It seems unlikely that everyone will move to DW as a platform but one could hope. I know everyone is looking to Pillowfort but there’s something about Dreamwidth that reminds me of an old Cold War bunker. It’s old but stable and not going anywhere.

Yeah, Pillowfort is incredibly rickety at the moment. Slow to do anything and even odds whether it's up at all. I hope it improves.

I feel like I'm running around trying to crosspost and backup so much I'm not even noticing who's not active yet. I also think, the more we're on this platform, the more we'll adjust back to creating more content!

I think that's part of it too! My reading page is so full of people cross posting and saving old content that I feel kind of silent and dull. But all my fic is already cross posted at AO3, so I feel no need to move it here, and a good deal of my meta is out of date or proved wrong (the perils of a current TV show fandom!) so I would actually rather not preserve it for posterity. Ah well, I'll eat popcorn and read the cross posts and comment away.

Yeah, I'm still trying to figure out what to use DW for too! I've fallen out of the habit of making short RL update posts the way I used to. And DW isn't really a good environment for image posts, which is a big part of what I do/did on Tumblr. This may end up being mostly a place where I can workshop drafts that aren't ready for posting to AO3.

Yeah, I don't see myself doing RL posts at all! I came of internet age in the early to mid 90s when you didn't say anything about your real life on the open internet ever in case they came to your house and tried to make hats out of your skin. Somehow that has stuck through the age of social media and I just can't seem to talk about anything remotely IRL except in fleeting references. I had one Tumblr follower refer to me as "so mysterious!" and I was like, ". . . I'm just boring?"

I mean, even if I only post a fic or some recs here and there, I'm enjoying being part of the commentariat.
