I learned that there was an EpIX trailer over my lunch hour (thanks, ladytharen ! Sorry for squeeing all over your comments). So after watching it through a few times and flailing more than somewhat, I made sure to show it to some of our after-school kids.

12-year-old: "Ohhhhh cooooool" *goes on a long ramble about the various things he would have liked to see throughout the Star Wars universe, up to and including evil Yoda*

8-year-old: "wait who is Skywalker?" Conversation drifts off to the point where he's very seriously telling me that the way to make a lightsaber is to get a stick and leave it on top of a volcano for 30 days (very specific on that) and then come back for it. I resisted the temptation to tell him that's how you get a Darth Vader.

The only discourse worth engaging in, TBH.

... Evil Yoda would have been amazing. I was expecting evil Yoda in TLJ, for real.

Heh, I mean, given that new canon has wiped out EU canon, the only part he's missing is the kyber crystal powering it. For all we know, it really might include getting a stick, leaving it on top of a volcano for 30 days, and then kyber crystals are only attached some point later.

And I feel like evil Yoda might have happened at some point in the old EU? It seems like they threw everything & the kitchen sink in there.

I think the kid even said he saw Evil Yoda in the comics, but he really wanted to see it on the big screen.

I informed him today that I finally saw Aquaman over the weekend and only liked the parts that didn't involve overblown underwater CGI battles. You would have thought I'd personally kicked his puppy. He's willing to forgive me if we do Star Wars Origami for my May the 4th party.

I know! They're so much fun. And it so often makes perfect sense in a very kid-logic kind of way.

There's a thread going around Tumblr that's like, "Forget discourse we're all going to react to Star Wars like kids again. Pew pew pew I have a lightsaber." And it goes on from there. Makes me smile every time I stumble across it.
