mosyluHaving been on DW for a whopping four days now, I'm still in adjustment mode.
I miss likes. I do. I miss being able to click that little heart. I know a lot of folks on Tumblr use likes as a reading list, and dislike when they're done (sending this insecure fic writer into a minor tailspin: what do you mean dislike? Did you change your mind?!? *grabs paper bag to breathe into*) , but the way I used it was to say, "Hi, I see you and I like/support/acknowledge you" to the poster.
However. The lack of the like button on here means I actually have to type out a comment to get across the same sentiments, and while it's more work, it's also more . . . satisfying? I'm actually talking to people instead of waving hi. I know there's that "memorable entries" option you can click, but I'm feeling like it just doesn't work the same.
I also miss the queue.

it used to be used in Livejournal for you to add entries to, for your own reference, to look at later, and I think they eventually added the functionality that other people could see what you'd Memorie'd, but it was sharply limited in how many you could have in there, so if you'd been on the site any amount of time you had to sometimes face down things like "do I un-memory this fic I love to add this person's major life announcement or what". So that might be why people would un-like stuff they'd read-- that's a tough habit to break! I reacted to the limitation by literally never using the function at all, so there's how healthy I am.
I think they relaxed that and it's not limited now but I honestly haven't looked at it in ten years so I'm not sure what it does now, I just don't think it takes the place of Likes in any meaningful way. But I could be wrong.
